Guidelines for Preparing for WAT or Written Ability Test

Written Ability Test or WAT is incorporated as an important component of the final selection rounds of prestigious IIMs and other MBA colleges of high repute. It is also regarded as a better assessment process when compared to group discussions or GDs as candidates who could not communicate their opinion by speaking could always use WAT to express themselves.

Following are some guidelines on how to structure your WAT essay.

•Gather your thoughts before beginning to write so as to organize the data in a concise manner.
•Structure a clear introductory paragraph which puts forth the views you are going to discuss in the essay.
•Dedicate separate paragraphs for different segments so as not to mix contradictory statements or debate topics.
•Use a simple and easy to understand language which lets you finish off in time as well as explain your views clearly to the reader.
•Projecting positive thoughts and viewpoints are better than pessimistic ideas or negative thoughts.
•Sentences should be grammatically correct and should contain proper subject-verb agreement and verbosity.
•Ensure correct usage of punctuation to convey the message as intended.
•Concluding paragraph should summarize your viewpoint
