How to prepare for GDs for an MBA admission




Group discussion or GD as it is commonly called has become an integral part of selection process for MBA admissions as well as various other recruitment processes. It is considered a platform for the candidate to participate in a conversation which proves his communication skills.

Below stated are the various reasons why a GD is conducted for evaluating candidates for an MBA or PGDM admissions in B-schools.

Creative activity - Regarded as a creative as well as a dynamic activity which encourages reflective thinking among the members of a group, GDs are ideal platforms for them to interact and exchanges views on a prescribed topic.

Testing tool - Group discussion is now hailed as an important testing tool to analyse the candidate’s skills in the final admission round after getting shortlisted by a reputed B-school. GD along with personal interview has now became mandatory in the final admission round of any institutions.

Tests communication skills - Group discussions are less formal than personal interviews and are unstructured when compared to other assessment round like extempore and case studies where candidates have to respond only to the specific type of questions aimed at them.
